According to a 2018 survey by Perkbox, 59% of UK adults cite work as their common source of stress. 21% of them blame their stress on long working hours, while 13% trace it to their concern over their work performance.
As a result, 65% of UK adults experience sleep loss as the major effect of work stress on them. 47% say they experience anxiety, while 32% say they feel less productive at work.
Although stress can sometimes bring out our undiscovered potential at work, it’s usually draining what’s left of our energy and motivation for the day.
To avoid this scenario, there are three things you can run to for help: meditation, yoga, and CBD. Stick around as we share with you calming ways you can dominate work stress with the help of these three!
Free Your Mind with Mindfulness Meditation
Having too much on our plate at work isn’t something we can always avoid. If you feel like your mind is strained from the stress of the pile-by-pile work at your desk, take a few minutes off to practice some mindful meditation.
Mindful meditation is a tool for bringing your focus to the important aspect of life – the present. You don’t need to worry about the past, and what happens in the future is something to worry about in the future. When you focus on the present, you free yourself from the unnecessary worries burdening your mind and spirit.
To do a mindful meditation, find a quiet place in your office where you can sit for a few minutes without any disturbance. You can start by closing your eyes and taking deep breaths. While breathing, count from 1 to 5 to help you focus, then do it again when you reached 5. If you get distracted, revert your attention to your counting immediately.
The important part here is to focus your attention on the air passing through your nose. Don’t think about the work waiting at your desk. Doing this slows down the fast-paced thoughts racing in your mind, freeing you from feeling agitated or stressed.
There are no complicated processes or equipment necessary for this, so it’s easy to do even when you’re at the office. You can do this for 10-15 minutes every day and you’ll already see the benefits of mindful meditation uplifting your spirit.
You can also invite your coworkers to do some meditating with you if you want. In fact, many companies are already placing mindful meditation as a mandatory routine for their employees.
Relieving Work Stress and Burnout With Yoga
You probably have those moments where you come home from work and you felt like Atlas with the world on his shoulders. You feel the day’s work drowning you physically, emotionally, and mentally.
Meditation helps relieve work stress for a short time, but if you want something with longer effect, you should try out yoga.
Yoga is the perfect channel to release all the tension and stress looming your body, and to avoid stressful situations from overcoming us. Think of it as a combination of a massage for the body and mind.
The process of yoga is almost the same as meditation, except yoga involves the whole body in the breathing and relaxation methods, particularly through poses.
There are plenty of yoga poses you can practice at home or in a studio that it would be impossible to list them down in this post. Nonetheless, here are some poses you can try to help you get started posing on your yoga mat:
- Bālāsana or Child’s Pose
- Shavasana or Corpse Pose
- Malasana or Goddess Pose
- Marjaryasana or Cat Pose
- Anjaneyasana or Low Lunge Pose
Yoga isn’t just about the poses though. It has plenty to offer, from different breathing techniques to principles leading you to a better approach to life. All in all, it helps you develop new habits for relaxing your mind when things are starting to get tense, which can have a positive impact on your overall personality and approach in life in the long run.
Doing one yoga session won’t work wonders on your body. You have to commit to practicing it at home or with friends at least twice a week. You can practice several yoga practices with the help of YouTube and yoga journals online, or by signing up for a yoga class membership.
When you take it as part of your weekly routine, you’ll notice you won’t stress too much with last-minute revisions or canceled meetings at work unlike before. Yoga teaches you how to identify a potential stressor in life, and how to stop it before it ends up overwhelming you.
It helps you gain control over your emotions, and how to approach things to help you achieve what you want in the best way possible.
CBD – Your Partner in Dominating Work Stress
To declare yourself superior from your work stress and burnout, you can use CBD products together with your yoga and meditation routines.
A study by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) discovered that CBD has helped reduce stress in animals, particularly with rats.
They discovered that the physiological symptoms of anxiety have improved, such as an improvement in heart rate. The animals also showed lower signs of anxiety with CBD. However, more research is needed with the effects of CBD on humans with General Anxiety Disorder (GAD).
Although the effects and legalisation of marijuana are still on debate, you never have to worry about using CBD products. You won’t experience the high feeling associated with marijuana when you use CBD oil.
CBD is more involved with regulating serotonin, the hormone responsible for inducing a happy feeling in our brain. Because it doesn’t induce the same psychoactive effects like with THC from the marijuana variety, numerous medical practitioners worldwide have been using CBD products to help cure patients of their stress, anxiety and even depression.
Just ensure to buy your CBD oil, gummies, or capsule to a legitimate CBD vendor like Royal CBD. Check with your local laws regarding CBD oil usage too before purchasing CBD oil.
The recommended dosage differs depending on the situation you’re trying to alleviate. It’s best to consult a doctor to ask for a professional recommendation on how much to take, as well as what type of CBD product to use.
